Board Lasting Shoes Part 1
Board lasting is a traditional shoemaking technique where a firm insole board—often made of fiberboard or Texon—is attached to the shoe’s upper before the outsole is applied. This method provides a stable and supportive base, making it ideal for footwear requiring enhanced structure and durability, such as work boots and orthopedic shoes. The process involves securing the upper material over a last (a foot-shaped mold), attaching the rigid insole board to maintain the shoe’s shape, and then affixing the outsole to complete the construction
