The feather edge of a shoe last is the “corner” where the upper surface of the last meets the sole (or last bottom). A shoe last can have a rounded smooth feather edge or a hard 90˚corner at the feather edge. Soft contoured running shoes with molded midsoles will be made on a last with a rounded feather edge. A stiff work boot made with board lasting construction will have a hard corner at the feather edge and a flat last bottom.
